Tanjong Pagar: Fitness Options

Last updated 16 May 2018.

Health and wellness has gained tremendous following and awareness in the last couple of years in Singapore and the Tanjong Pagar area has played host to a flourishing scene. With a large variety of commercial and boutique gyms, it is the perfect area to discover new sports and mix up your fitness routine. Here are a few providers in the area (websites are linked at the bottom of each segment):

Commercial Gyms

Commercial gyms are fantastic for getting in a variety of workouts. With their extensive range of equipment and classes available, there's always something for everyone. The higher end facilities also provide top of the line amenities including steam rooms, swimming pools, and even sleeping pods.

Fitness First at 100AM and Virgin Active at Tanjong Pagar Centre are two of the most notable names in the area and if you're after a no frills sorta deal, Anytime Fitness might fit the bill.

Not to be confused with the Mecca of bodybuilding, Gold's Gym along Tanjong Pagar Road is one of almost 20 Singapore locations that provides personal training.

For those after a bit more of an experience, the invite-only Gravity on the outskirts of Tanjong Pagar at CapitaGreen even provides shirt ironing services, meeting rooms, f&b options and has an in-house nutritionist and chiropractor amongst other benefits.

A relatively new concept, Core Collective is a collaborative centre providing an extensive range of fitness and wellness programmes, boasting an impressive list of professionals in different fields.

*Collective Works members enjoy special rates with Fitness First gyms islandwide - simply ask at reception.

For the Busy

For many of us with busy schedules, several gyms have taken an understanding and adapted their approach to their workouts, keeping them under an hour.

F45 ensures you get in a proper sweat in just 45 minutes through a series of functional movements. Collective Works members enjoy a free two-week trial - simply enquire with the Amoy Street outlet.

In a similar vein, Haus Athletics conducts 45-minute classes focused on high intensity athletic based conditioning workouts.

If 45 minutes is still too much of a commitment, perhaps Ritual's 30-minute sessions could be the perfect answer.

Tech Based Training

With technology impacting our daily lives, it's no surprise that it has found a way into our fitness regimes.

Apple Watches and Garmin accessories aside, Orangetheory Fitness is a one-of-a-kind heart rate based interval training that gets you into the afterburn, where your body burns calories for up to 36 hours post-workout.

Vision Gym is another boutique outfit that incorporates EMS systems to track your progress and push your boundaries.
